Dirty Dozen Brass Band live

Saw the DDBB on Nov. 9, I know it was a few weeks ago now but better late than never. They are mutating the New Orleans brass band tradition, bringing it forward to the younger audience, which means while they still play traditional toons like "When the Saints Go Marching In", they also do their own version of Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" and even emulate new hip-hop tracks.

The best thing to me was how the Sousaphone (think Tuba) player had a mic dropped into his instrument and was pluged into a bass amp. It sounded great, he was playing all the bass lines an electric bass guitar would usually cover, and doing a really great job of it.
